Tips For The Best Peanut Butter Cookies
Peanut butter: If you want soft chewy cookies, I recommend using creamy peanut butter. JIF is my favorite and what I grew up on so that's the brand I typically use. There are other types out there but I just want to warn you that using other types of peanut butter may affect the taste and texture. Also, the instructions say to leave the cookies on the pan for an additional 10 minutes after removing them from the oven. This will allow the cookies to form a chewy texture.
Do I need to chill the dough? I normally chill other cookie doughs for at least an hour before placing them in the oven but because peanut butter is so thick it's really not necessary to chill the dough this time around. After I make the crisscross patterns I send the cookies straight to the oven.
Don’t Overbake: Peanut butter cookies can go from perfect to overcooked quickly. Keep an eye on them, and don’t worry if the centers seem soft—they’ll firm up as they cool.
Add More Flavor: Feel free to fold in some chocolate chips, peanuts, or almonds.
